Thank you classmates for the generous contributions to the Scholarship Fund. This year we had three amazing students apply for our scholarship so we gave one $1,000 scholarship to Connor Buscemi Nowka and two $500 scholarships to Arsema Gebreyesus & Christania Adeoye.
A special shout out once again to Fred Bollen to thank him for presenting our scholarships at the LEHS Awards Night on May 31st to these very smart and deserving students.
Connor Buscemi Nowka ranks 4th in their class of 427 students with a grade point average of 4.5. He has been the Mock Trial Captain, President of the Latin Club, Public Art Team Member at Raw Art Works where he was also a member of Project Launch. He plans to attend George Washington University and major in Political Science.
Arsema Gebreyesus ranks 9th in their class with a grade point average of 4.33. She has played Basketball, Tennis and Soccer where she was Captain Senior Year. She was Treasurer of the Student Council and Environmental Club and was also a member of the Quiz Team, Mock Trial Team and Inclusivity Club. She has volunteered at My Brother’s Table, United Basketball, Lynn YMCA and East Lynn Little League. She plans to attend Northeastern University and major in Computer Science/Criminal Justice.
Christania Adeoye ranks 34th in their class with a grade point average of 3.99. She was on the Track Team, President of the Environmental Club, member of the Inclusivity Panel and Living in Two Worlds Club; was a member of Girls Inc. of Lynn where she was a Peer Leader and taught marine science curriculum to middle schools students in an after-school program. She has volunteered at My Brother’s Table and was a member of Boston Children’s Hospital Inter-Ethnic Youth Advisory Board. Christania plans to attend North Carolina Central University and major in Environmental Science and Business Administration.
These are outstanding students and we wish them all much success and happiness at college and in life.
