This year, due to the Coronavirus, LEHS was not able to have an actual Awards Ceremony.  We are happy to report  because of some very generous classmates we were able to present two $1,000 scholarships.  This year we limited the candidates to grandchildren of our classmates as long as they met the requirements.  We had two candidates apply and were happy to present each of them with our LEHS Class of ’65 Scholarship.

Our scholarship recipients are:

1). Tyler Drinan (Grandson of Linda Wurdeman Curcuru) ranks in the top 30 percent of his class, was an Honor Roll student for all four years & plans to attend Franklin Pierce University where he will major in Sports Management.  Tyler loves playing and following sports; played soccer for the first two years @ LEHS and football for his final two years as the starting kicker; played four years of basketball and was on the team who won the Massachusetts Division 1 boys state basketball tournament for the first time since 1938.  Tyler has been a reliable Aide to the Vice-principals, volunteered at Lavender Day Soccer Camps along with working three years at Market Basket.  Tyler also has completed the two-year Cisco Academy program to become a certified IT professional.

2). Ryan Bursey (Grandson of Pat Johnson Morley) also ranks in the top 30 percent of his class & plans to attend Plymouth State University where he will major in Nursing.  He was a member of the LEHS Football team and the All-Lynn lacrosse team.  Ryan has worked part-time at Zumiez and Vinwood Catering.

Tyler and Ryan have both worked very hard during their years at LEHS; we are sorry their graduation plans and all their classmates’ plans, etc. were so impacted by the Pandemic.  We wish them both much success & happiness in college and in life.

Even in these trying times, Graduation is fast approaching for seniors across the country.  LEHS has its Awards Night planned for June 3rd.  We are aware of several grandchildren of classmates graduating with the class of 2020 and we would like to give a $1,000 scholarship to a student of a classmate who meets all our criteria.  Our LEHS Class of 1965 Scholarship is listed on the LEHS Guidance website (www.lehsguidance.org) with the application and guidelines.  The application, etc. must be completed and into Matt Wilkins, Guidance Counselor, by May 15th.
In these difficult times, I’m sure students and parents would appreciate any additional help they can get to send their children off to college.  Below please find our Scholarship Donation Form.  We would like to ask you to consider making a donation at this time (no donation is too small) so we could possibly give a second scholarship to a worthy student.   We are proud that we have given out over $27,000 in scholarships since 1981 and our “funds” are being depleted. If you have already made a donation, thank you very much!!

At this year’s Awards Ceremony held on May 29, 2019, Fred Bollen presented two scholarships to outstanding students.   Some of our class members have asked us to recognize a graduate who planned to go on to a higher education to work in the “trades”.  There is a shortage of good plumbers, electricians, automobile specialists, etc. so we wanted to award a second $1000 scholarship to a deserving student with your additional help and donations.   Most students graduating from these programs find themselves fortunate enough to be employed immediately after graduating which makes everyone happy.

Our scholarship recipients are:

1). Taylor Raymond who ranks 15th in a class of 310 & plans to attend the University of New England in Maine where she will pursue Marine Science.  Taylor is a National Honor Society member and a well rounded student who has participated on the volleyball team, swim team and the past two years has been on the yearbook club & is the photography editor this year.  Her  hobbies include dancing & photography.

2). Zachary Arsenault is in the top 20% of his class & plans to attend Mass Bay Community College where he’ll major in Automotive Technology.  He was a member of the boy’s soccer team at LEHS for four years, most recently as captain.  Zachary’s interests are cars (especially muscle cars), fashion & cooking.  He has been a Guidance Aide & a diligent student throughout his years in high school.

We wish both Taylor & Zachary much success & happiness in college and in life.   We also want to thank everyone who applied for our scholarship and wish them much success.  They were all such deserving candidates.

Classmates!  It’s that time of year again.  Over the past 25 years you as a class have been very generous.  We would welcome donations both large and small to possibly award a second $1,000 scholarship.  You can request a Scholarship Donation form on our website by clicking Here.  Thank you for considering this worthy donation.

Hello everyone.  This website is for Lynn English High School Class of 1965.  It is free for you to use and we don’t like asking for money.

BUT…. we DO award scholarships to deserving Lynn English High School Seniors and would like to continue to do so.  We have a page on this site which explains our Scholarship Program and we hope you check it out.  Click on Scholarship Program under the Main Menu or just click the highlighted words Scholarship Program in this posting.  They all go to the same place (hint hint).

The Scholarship Program is funded by your donations.  During a reunion year, there is a place on the reunion registration form to add a donation as you pay for your reunion tickets.   Most of the money in our scholarship bank account comes from money that is donated during reunion years.  Not very much comes in during off years.   Deserving students can use every small amount of financial help they get to help pay for skyrocketing college tuition and expenses.  We would like to continue to fund our Scholarship Program in the off years and perhaps increase the amount we give as our bank account allows.

So we are asking for donations.   Many of us are retired and on fixed incomes.  Under those circumstances, donations may not be possible.  But  if you can find a way, please make a donation.

All the donations will go to Pat (Johnson) Morley who will make sure the money is deposited in our LEHS Class of 1965 bank account.  For everyone’s protection, we have a policy of not posting contact information on this website.  So to make a donation, please request a scholarship donation form by clicking on CONTACT  under the Main Menu and requesting a Scholarship donation form.  We will email you a scholarship donation form which you can print, fill out and send to Pat via US Postal Service.  Her address is on the donation form.  By the way, if you don’t have email, just ask us to mail you the form and we will.

You can also update your contact information (which is great to do annually even if it hasn’t changed) and request a scholarship donation form at the same time by clicking on Address Update Form under the Main Menu.  When you send the address update, just request a scholarship donation form in the box for “anything else you want to add?” at the bottom of the address update.  Don’t forget to include your phone number in the address update form.

That concludes this request for money… something we REALLY don’t like doing, but sometimes we just have to do it.  Please don’t forget to visit the Scholarship Program page and see who contributed in the past year (mostly at the 45th reunion) and a list of all the award recipients over the years.

We recently were able to obtain the supplies for a limited number of Golf Towels.   One hundred percent of the proceeds from the sale of the golf towels goes to our Scholarship Program.

This time the only color available is for a grey towel with red Bulldog head and lettering.  So order your towels NOW for Christmas $20 each plus shipping.  The Shipping charge will be $3.00 per shipment (multiple towels can be shipped together).  If you want to pick the towels up in person you can eliminate the shipping charges.

There’s still time for Santa to deliver a great gift for LEHS golfers.  Note:  the graduation year is not on the towel so it is suitable for any LEHS graduate.  Remember the proceeds from the sale will go to our scholarship program for LEHS Grads.
